Statement by Partnership for Open & Fair Skies on Emirates’ Plan to Restore Capacity to the U.S.
Washington, D.C. (September 7, 2017) – At the Aviation Festival in London today, Emirates President Tim Clark said that his airline plans to restore capacity on their flights to the United States in the next six to nine months.
“The only reason Emirates can add flights to the United States is due to the massive amount of cash it receives from the treasury of its owner, the United Arab Emirates,” said Jill Zuckman, chief spokesperson for the Partnership for Open & Fair Skies. “The routes flown by Emirates are not tied to market demand, nor are they tied to profitability. Their goal is to strip market share from the U.S. carriers and to kill American jobs that depend on a healthy U.S. aviation industry.”
